{"id":393,"date":"2010-09-24T19:28:40","date_gmt":"2010-09-25T00:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/?p=393"},"modified":"2015-09-23T11:31:07","modified_gmt":"2015-09-23T16:31:07","slug":"hows-your-district-doing-with-the-dcp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/24\/hows-your-district-doing-with-the-dcp\/","title":{"rendered":"How&#8217;s your district doing with the DCP?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/statistics.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-397\" title=\"statistics\" src=\"http:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/statistics-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/statistics-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/statistics-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/statistics.png 495w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toastmasters.org\/2012RecognitionRevisions\" target=\"_blank\">Distinguished District Program<\/a> requires 40% of base clubs to be distinguished (goes into effect July 1, 2012).\u00a0 How&#8217;s your district doing so far this year, 1\/4 of the way through?\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the answer:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/DDP-DCP.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/mikeraffety.com\/DDP-DCP.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I believe I have a reasonable way to measure that success, without having to wait for April dues to post, and it&#8217;s really surprising how well districts are doing with this goal.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve written a program to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Calculate the number of distinguished clubs needed for each district (40% of start-of-year club base)<\/li>\n<li>Identify the clubs farthest along in the DCP (most goals earned to date)<\/li>\n<li>Add up their goals (but capped at 5 goals per club, since a club with 7 goals doesn&#8217;t help a club with 3 goals be distinguished)<\/li>\n<li>Divide that total goals by 5 times the number of distinguished clubs needed<\/li>\n<li>The resulting percentage should hit 100% exactly when the district achieves the 40% distinguished clubs goal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Except that there&#8217;s also that membership requirement for the DCP.\u00a0 So I&#8217;ve counted up the number of members that those clubs (making up the 40%) are short of whatever is required for them to be distinguished (+5 or &gt;=20 members) and show that as well.\u00a0 This number isn&#8217;t terribly meaningful until April dues are posted, of course;
