I had to wonder how District 11 would top the show they put on last
\nfall, when Chris Ford, the International President, visited them in
\nLouisville. This conference, the Friday night entertainment was “The
\nDistrict 11 Reality Show”, with six parts:<\/p>\n

  1. Extreme Makeover\/District 11’s Top Model<\/li>\n
  2. Dancing with the Stars of District 11 – Traditional<\/li>\n
  3. The Apprentice District Governor<\/li>\n
  4. District 11 Idol<\/li>\n
  5. Dancing with the Start of District 11 – Latin<\/li>\n
  6. It’s a Wrap!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    And wow, what fun. The District Governor was a good sport,
    \neveryone was encouraged to participate, and it was a great way to break
    \ndown some barriers and get to know each other.<\/p>\n

    The opening ceremonies and education sessions were all excellent. The
    \nC&L award at lunch went to Pat Wilson for her work in public
    \neducation (many awards) and with Habitat for Humanity. The district had
    \na raffle that I thought was quite efficient — there were seven gift
    \nbaskets, and you bought raffle tickets (about a dollar each, though
    \nthey were cheaper if you bought more), and then you dropped the raffle
    \ntickets into a box in front of the specific baskets you wanted to win.<\/p>\n

    Saturday evening was very busy, and the District Governor’s year-long
    \ntheme of “Curing Cold Feet” provided a lot of possibilities for humor!
    \nThe international speech contest was great, I had a very hard time
    \ndeciding who was the best, and I look forward to seeing each district’s
    \nbest speaker in Kansas City in June, with all-new speeches!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
